The Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day will begin with an inspiring Opening Ceremony in Willow Grove. Walkers will travel through beautiful suburban neighborhoods. Once in the Philadelphia, the route will go through Chestnut Hill and Manayunk, two popular areas filled with interesting architecture as well as many small shops and restaurants. We'll take advantage of the most scenic view of Philadelphia’s skyline before officially entering camp for the night
On Saturday morning, we'll rise and shine, ready to hit the trail. Enjoy the beautiful neighborhoods of Haverford, Lower Merion and the Main Line. From Haverford and Bryn Mawr College, to the Haverford and Baldwin Schools, the walk will include some of the most prestigious schools and affluent neighborhoods in this area. With many small towns filled with shops and restaurants, there will be plenty to see along the way.
The final day of our journey will showcase Center City. The day begins with a stroll down Main Street Manayunk, complete with endless shops, restaurants and coffee houses. The rest of the day is filled with all the hotspots and hidden treasures Philadelphia and Fairmount Park have to offer. From the Art Museum & City Hall to the Liberty Bell and the Japenese Tea House, there is much to see and enjoy. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Philadelphia walk without South Philadelphia and Pat’s Steaks. At the end of the journey, enjoy sharing Closing Ceremonies with your family and friends at Philadelphia historic Navy Yard.

It's Almost Time
The beef and beer is creeping up on us. It's really starting to get nerve racking now! We still have tickets to sell, raffles to get, details to iron out, and so on. Are we ever going to be ready for this? Are we going to be able to pull this off? No one will see or hear from me until after October 2, 2009. Unless I am harassing you about the beef and beer, then you will hear from me more than you want to!

Extended Family
Let me start off with a quick little background story for everyone. I have been training numerous different martial arts since I was 5 years old. I have actually been involved in them since the day I was born, seeing as my Dad was already a very well known Tae Kwon Do black belt by then. During that time I have trained at schools all over the country and even some in other countries. A little over 2 years ago I decided to focus solely on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. I trained at a gym for a few months before I found BJJ United in Jenkintown. I was hooked the second I walked in the doors.
Fast forward to January 2009. Jared Weiner, my BJJ instructor called me about something and I informed him that my mom had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. He didn't hesitate to tell me that whatever I needed, he would be there. Lots of people say things like this, few actually follow through on their promise. Needless to say, Jared is one of the few that is actually down to do anything to help. The first step was to sponsor Robyn and I. But it didn't stop there, not even close. I got a call from Jared last night after class, offering to put our team shirts in the gym, sell them and donate all the money to the 3 day! This is just the beginning of what BJJ United has done for us, but I don't want blow their spot up to much.
Anyway, enough rambling. It just amazes me that after only knowing people for about 2 years, they are willing to do so much to help out. I truly believe that during hard times such as these, people show their true colors. And let me tell you the people at BJJ United have showed me that they are some of the greatest people I have ever met in my life. The place is just one huge family and is truly down for each other whenever, where ever, and for whatever.
